Some interesting points made. I think it also applies to aftermarket MAF's and Lambda Sensors in addition to catalytic converters. I constantly stress to my customers the importance of buying the genuine article but it sometimes falls on deaf ears. It is very difficult to convince them that an aftermarket product may not solve their problem but I can understand the desire to save money. I can remember one such person who found a "genuine" Ford Lambda Sensor on the internet for about £25. I showed him the poor trace on pico and told him it was rubbish and he promptly disconnected the sensor and nearly shoved it up my nose to show me that it had "Ford" engraved on it. What irks me most about this is two-fold. Firstly, the customer casts aspersions on my diagnostic abilities because the aftermarket part does not work. Secondly, they swear they have got the correct part and I then go back to find its some junk from flea bay or wherever. I think I should take a harder line in future but its a difficult call sometimes when you want to keep your customers and try to take some sort of sympathetic line. Regards Pete M PS. No response from Anthony yet which is dissapointing
