Steve Gittins
To offer a slightly different view.
I use quite a few different forums but really like this one. Although, I dont use it as much as the others or I would like. Mainly because I find it a little harder to navigate and quite time consuming to find new posts and active topics. Some of the others you can have a look through them, Click "recently updated" or "active" and get a list to look through in a couple of minutes while having a coffee. You can quickly and easily see if there's anything you may be able to help with and post as needed.
I am not one of the useful members of the forums. I take far more than I give as I dont have a great amount of knowlege (I do hope that one day I will have a clue what Im doing and repay all the help Ive had)but when I can help, I do.
I would imagine that someone who does have a great level of understanding and depth of knowledge has very little to gain from the forum. If it were a little simpler for them to make one click to view active content in a couple of minutes rather than trawling through the various sections they would be more forth coming. After all they are taking time out of their busy day to help others. So if we wish them to help, we need to make it as easy as possible for them to do so. This is possibly one reason why they are more active on some of the other forums.
That's enough waffle from me.
Thanks guys. Not having a dig about the forum, Just offering another point of view.
Steve.
