I was trying to keep my post short. I agree with all the tests suggested. What ever equipment you have to test for a spark [apprentice in the good old days] joke. Fuel pressure and injector pulse including hc. If it has them the crank sensor is working. Mechanical ,compressions and valve timing[which ever is easiest scope. gauges for pressure or vacuum or visual] When it comes to compression hearing is a vital sense. What i was trying to say is that certain twin cam vauxhalls are snapping camshafts the caps are working loose. It might not be the same engine but if the compressions were ok [scope or gauge] its not that and you can move on to the next test. My theory on the plugs being dry is that the valves aren't opening. I hope you have the car up and running
