I was tdy to Takhli in 72 73 from Nellis. I worked the avionics on the f-111a.
In the middle of October 72, the BCU computers from the f111's coming back from their missions over Cambodia and loas were filled with condensation liquids. When the BCU's were brought into the shop for us to repair, we would get drenched with this condensation. We didn't know any better at the time then to just ignore the water that fell out onto us.
Now,several years later, I believe that the condensation water had to have had ao or other stuff mixed with it. As the F-111-A's always flew at treetop level on all their missions over all those countrys over there. Somewhere along the line they had to pick up the AO.
Anyone working directly on the plane or on the avionics from the plane had to have been exposed to the AO as well.
The piramitures to the base itselve is not the only way to be exposed to the AO at Takhli.
About four months after I returned to Nellis AFB in sept 73, I started getting a body tick that has gone on for years. As of now, I jusr spent the last six months in the VA hospital with a ruptured apendics that was cuased by a Cancer in the apendics. I am now going through cemo.
However, all the surgens and doctors and even the oncology dept says they have never seen this before. And they even believe this could have been cuased by AO exposure from back in 72/73 timeframe.
I just put my claim in through the DAV and I am now waiting.
If anyone elese has any thing about AO exposure from the planes, let us know.
