Re: C&O Section Crew St Louis 1964
I'm still fairly confident that this photo was taken at St Louis. There is a doorway behind them with a transom and windows on either side of the door, which would match up with the door to the waiting room at St Louis. You can see the ticket window on the left, and to that left of that was a door that went into the agent's quarters that had the bay window and desk with scissors phone and above it the levers to operate the TO signal. There was a table that I remember in the area where Carolyn is sitting, and the section foreman had his office in that room. (I worked this agency a few times off the extra board in 1976-77). I'm pretty sure the gentleman on the far right is Cliff Reichert, who was agent at St Louis when my photo from 1964 was taken. (He later bid in the Alma agent job and retired from that position). As far as crews, there was the section crew that had home base there, and also the switch crew out of Alma spent every afternoon at St Louis switching the various customers, most notably Michigan Chemical. Now, why Carolyn was there, I don't know. My guess is that this photo was taken some time in the mid to late 50's.
