Re: New York Central crossing on. I-69
I don't remember the exact year (early 1980's, I believe) I-69 was finally completed between Lapeer and Port Huron. The former NYC/PC line through Lapeer was not designated for inclusion in Conrail when they commenced operations on April 1, 1976. Since Conrail had no use for that track starting on that date, there was no need for a grade crossing or a bridge, either. Neither ever existed. PC did have a grade crossing of I-94 for the branch that ran from Ypsilanti to Saline and beyond. AA owns a part of that line from Pittsfield Junction to Saline and uses it for car storage.
