This isn't the type of response you're looking for either but thought I'd share the story. While in college in the 1970s the water pump died in our Ford pickup in Remus. We planned to hitchhike to the Ford dealer in Blanchard but noticed the C&O local was ready to leave town. We playfully stuck our thumbs out to beg for a ride and the conductor asked us to hop aboard the caboose. When the train reached Blanchard he asked the engineer to stop , we jumped off, and hitchhiked back to Remus with our new water pump. Several years later we built our own railcar and rode the rails between Remus and Edmore (and some other abandoned runs). If I ever learn to post pictures I'll share a few.
