A.D., just a few comments from a retired railroader.....I worked for Canadian Pacific (CP Rail at the time) and the MKT (Katy) back in the 70's and 80's. I worked in sales (asst. sales manager) and car distributor (sales operations). Started working right out of high school while taking transportation logistics and tariff interpretation classes at college. Times are different now in many ways, but some things have remained the same over the years. I figured that my active college courses netted me my first railroad job. Re. some jobs being advertised for long periods of time, many companies will continue to advertise a position for many months just to see who they can attract. When the so-called "perfect" candidate appears, they hire the individual but not necessarily for the position that was advertised. If you have religious faith, keep praying and asking God for guidance; it will eventually happen.
