In about 1989, the Trio did a show in Richmond, VA and Arlo was on the bill.
Woody wrote Hobo for Arlo.
So, when Nick sang Hobo, he dedicated it to Arlo.
I went to sound check and met Arlo. We talked for about an hour after sound check.
Arlo is a really great guy. Tons of fun to talk to.
I have a photo of Bob and Arlo.
I was at the first show that Nick did when he rejoined the Trio.
It was in Winston Salem. An outdoor show.
The band joined Nick on Hobo.
Only time.
They did two sets.
Bob got Glen Yarbrough's road manager to run the sound ...
His name was Reign Neggo.
Great guy... who died from cancer not long afterward.
the sound system they rented had a cassette recorder.
I got a tape and we recorded both shows.
Reign set me a copy of the tape.
All that was on it was from Bob's guitar mic.
So, I have a recording of 2 Trio shows where mostly all
i can hear is Shane's guitar.
Jean Ward was there and she had a new Sony video recorder.
So, i videoed the 2 shows.
From the audience.
The bottom half of the video has the tops of people's heads in the audience. The top part has the Trio.
Jean sent me a VHS copy.
It self-destructed.
No more video. Sound is great.
It took a while ... but, she finally sent me the original Sony tape. Don't know if it's any good now. I have it somewhere.
I don't know how Nick could sing Hobe every night for 12 years. I sure got sick of it.
