I very much look forward to it, Max.
Love your stories!
Never knew Rick Daly got Nick to change the words to "Hobo's Lullaby" ~ whereby Rick didn't like the verse about Policemen not being in Heaven.
I still miss Rick. Not the same without him.
Nothing lasts forever ~
and looking back, when I think of all the mistakes I made - Nat King Cole surely touches a nerve:

There's more.
There always is ......
First, our dearly departed friend, Rick Daly, who was a cop, got Nick to change the words...
Instead of police... I think Nick sang "the bad guys."
The Trio arrived on Friday, a day early for the show in Richmond. Fir day night we went out to eat. I'd never had suchi before. Nick told me what to get. I think this was in 1989. Now, I can get fresh suchi at all the Kroger stores here.
They were in a terrible mood. The whole time.
Jean Ward knew why. But, she didn't tell me until after we all got back home. They had just learned that Dave Guard had cancer and would not be able to be part of the big reunion tour that had been planned. That was going to make them all tons of money. Dave's having cancer was of course big. But, so was the money.
The original four had made cassette recordings of the new songs they wanted to do during the tour and they were going to be on a live album. Allan Shaw got copies of their cassettes. And he put the names of some of the songs in his newsletter. Stewart was going to do "Blue... you're a good dog. I think all of Guard's were on Up and In. I don't remember any of the other songs. Allan wanted to make a CD from the cassettes. But, it never came about... I think. I could be wrong about this.
More to come.
Max
