I don't mean to dis our beloved Trio, the former Trio, but really, how much money can be involved here. As for Tom Dooley's Mercantile, I would think most of us have what we want or need, so there's can't be much being sold there now, if anything. I guess there was CD sales from concerts. But how much can it really be. I think Josh is just trying to upset the apple cart and cause MM some grief. Good on him for that. But I can't see millions being involved. Little Nick is probably just out of work and desperately trying to come up with a way to make some money. As for MM and his fake group, I hope they're starving and flat broke.
By reading this, I get the feeling that it's Josh just trying to turn over all stones. I don't exactly know what "performance" rights are. However, since the original cast and crew of the Kingston Trio is dead, I would imagine royalty funds would go to family members in some kind of an "estate." When he talks about "the late owner of the KT brand," he's talking about Bob. MasterMike ended up with that, but he's only partially late. The inventory of the former KT Online store (known now as Tom Dooley's Mercantile since 2018 or so) is what's at $take here. I had heard that Bob's wife was running the business at one time, but now that Mike's the "owner" of the name, he probably ousted Bobbie (you know, for all the hard work she did). If that all went to Mike, Josh wants his take, probably Tom too. I'm thinking that Josh knows that he really can't sue over the major label (and licensed stuff). MM would just be the "vendor" of those things. Perhaps Josh is going to question the "legitimacy" of the privately issued CDs released from 2000 on out. Money may have been excanged for that, and since some of that was of concern of Nick's estate, Josh is coming in against Mike from that angle. My thinking is that Josh is broke and maybe living on his own now.
