Five armed officers barred from palaces over ‘inappropriate comments’

Five armed cops have been banned from royal residences following a complaint from a female member of staff at Kensington Palace.

The Kensington Palace female royal household staff worker first complained about the officers’ conduct in October 2024.

She alleged they made “inappropriate” comments between August 2023 and September 2024. It is understood that one of the cops complained about Kensington Palace being “full of little Hitlers” when he was asked to move his kit.

Another is said to have tried to befriend the female employee on Facebook, which she deemed inappropriate.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Comments from the officers were perceived as misogynistic though the allegations were tame and none were sexual in nature.”

Wow. It doesn't take much to get some people riled up.

The little Hitlers comment was offensive and would warrant disciplinary action. As for the officer trying to add the female employee to his social media, I suspect there was more going on than a simple friend request.

Definitely more going on than the article enumerates, but what happened to people settling their own disagreements?

The staff member most likely reported the 'Little Hitler' comment to their Line Manager who the escalated the incident to higher management, who then got the senior management of the task force involved. The guy who tried to add the female staff member to his Facebook was probably caught in the same manner. Also the Royal Palaces involved are not run by a Private company. They are run by a independent charity with a Board of Trustees, which is publicly funded by donations and people becoming members.

The "LH" comment went too far. Social media is a fine line, if it was a pure friend request, maybe, but you have to keep in mind this was a member of security and a household staff. It can be done if one or both people keep it at a friend level and keep work convos. out of it. It's still dicey.
We don't know the entire background. There's also a way to request something such as an officer removing his kit, a polite way or a commanding way. If the officer cops an attitude or repeats his action, then he/she and myself have a problem
The officer get his/her rear end chewed off. If that doesn't work, I go higher. We just don't know the fine details.

I'm not defending the "LH" comment, but I do maintain that people have lost the ability to talk to each other like adults. If someone made that comment in front of me, I'd have no problem telling them to their face it was out of line.

I know you weren't defending the LH comment at all. I get your point about people not talking/working problems out like adults anymore. It's true.
As I wrote if the officer was politely told to move his kit and he made that statement, then there would be hell to pay if I was the one he directed it at. If it was a rude request, the officer still should not have made that comment, it would have been better to pick up his stuff and left, but that would have been the adult thing to do and saved his job....maybe.
