My take: Meghan's publicist called either Thomas Jr.or the hospital, shoved Meghan onto the phone and ordered her to talk to her father. I also think Meghan sees the possibilities of milking this terrible thing to Garner attention and sympathy. Then there's the estate and possible money from it. If Thomas dies, Meghan will want a chunk of whatever assets he has. Talking to him might get her back in the will if he's cut her out.

I hope Tom recovers. And I hope he can finally meet Archie, Lili, and Harry. Meghan will make sure the paps will be there to record the moment.

A spokesperson for the Duchess of Sussex had previously declined to comment on reports, first published exclusively by the Daily Mail, that Meghan’s father was ill.

But in an updated statement this evening, they said: 'I can confirm she [Meghan] has reached out to her father.'

No further details have been released, including whether or not Meghan's attempt was successful.

It is understood that the Duchess of Sussex only found about about her father's health battles when reading about it in the news.

She then instructed her aides to verify the claims, according to The Times newspaper.

What are the odds she sat on the verification until today so that this story will take attention away from Catherine's Christmas concert?

And since she hasn't given her phone number to anybody in her family except Doria, just how does she expect her family to contact her other than through the media?

Oh yeah, she announcement to detract from Catherine. Wanna bet someone in her camp will "leak" that no one from Harry's family called her to express support and sympathy?

Thomas Jr. may have had Doria's number and called her.

I LOATHE the use of "reach out" instead of "call" or "contact." I just always envision a pair of arms coming out at me from the mist or something. Ick.

Where on earth do these sudden fads come from?

I first saw it used in business which I think is quite ridiculous.

In addition to the Four Tops song, the phrase was used in the Bell Telephone and ATT&T commercials for around a decade.

I was told by the corporate powers that be that telling our customers we were "reaching out" to them rather than "contacting" them made our corporation seem more friendly and opened the door for more business. Maybe Meghan used that phrase to seem "warm and relatable"? We all know how much she likes to toss those words around.

I don't think there is much left in the way of assets. Thomas spent his money on Meghan's education, then moved to Rosarito MX because of the lower cost of living. His move to the Philippines was also for a lower cost of living.

I wonder if we will hear from Tom, Jr. that no message was received--did not receive a call from her. It would be just like her (when Harry said he had cleared his trip to Toronto with Charles) say she did it, but didn't. Maybe I should give her more credit. Maybe she really did try to reach out, but at a time when she knew everyone would asleep and not answering the phone.

Too little too late. All these years Meghan has dissed her father and true to her nature, she waits until the day of the Carol Service to allow the "spokesperson" to give us the news that she's reached out to her father....out of concern, I'm sure....

Neither Meghan nor Harry have returned any of Tom Sr.'s phone calls/messages, why should Tom Jr. make it a priority to answer Meghan's phone call? He has a ton of worry and decisions on his hands right now. If Meghan is that concerned, why didn't she hop on a plane and fly to be with her father?
She can't use the kids as an excuse, she's traveled to places near and far without them and there in school anyway.
I pray for Tom Sr., he has a hard road ahead of him and he's not out the woods yet as far as possible complications are concerned.

Meghan Markle's desperately ill father has sent a heartfelt message to his daughter, pleading: 'I don't want to die estranged.'

Thomas Markle, 81, appealed to the Duchess of Sussex to see him 'one more time before I die' as he lay in his hospital bed following the amputation of his left leg below the knee.

He told The Mail On Sunday that he also dreamed of seeing son-in-law Prince Harry and grandchildren Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, 'before it's too late'.

Mr Markle underwent the drastic, but life-saving surgery in a Philippines hospital on Wednesday.

One of his doctors told this newspaper – with his patient's express permission – that the surgery was a matter of 'life or death'.

The surgeon said: 'We had to remove the foot. There was a massive blood clot in his thigh and that had stopped circulation to his foot and lower leg.

'It was life-or-death surgery. Had the infection in the foot moved to his heart, it would most likely have been fatal. He is doing well but he is not out of the woods yet.'

Mr Markle told this newspaper that he was 'confused' by widespread reports that his daughter had 'reached out' to contact him following his serious health scare.

The ailing pensioner said he purposely did not change his number after their rift 'so she could always get in touch with me' but said he did not receive any messages from her last week.

With Mr Markle's permission, this newspaper independently confirmed with the hospital that neither their administration office, reception, intensive care unit nor the nurses and doctors attending to Mr Markle had heard from Meghan or her representatives, to the best of their knowledge.

A hospital source told the MoS: 'Mr Markle is a VIP patient. Of course we all know who he is. If Meghan or anyone connected with her had called here we would have known. It is a big hospital by Filipino standards but we all know each other and we all talk.

'We were all confused when we saw the story that the duchess had reached out to her dad. As far as we are aware it didn't happen. We would love to see the duchess here in the Philippines!'

Mr Markle has been estranged from his daughter – who has been promoting the Christmas special of her Netflix show With Love, Meghan which stresses the importance of family love – since her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.

They famously fell out when he posed for paparazzi photographs ahead of the big day – a misplaced gesture he later explained was a bid to 'improve' his image.

He then had two heart attacks and was unable to walk her down the aisle at St George's Chapel in Windsor. Charles, then Prince of Wales, walked her partway down the aisle, an act which Mr Markle later said 'was incredibly kind'.

Last night, Mr Markle remained in a stable condition in intensive care in a hospital in Cebu, a port city which he moved to at the start of this year in a bid to get away from the 'constant' stories about his daughter and Harry.

Mr Markle is expected to be moved to a regular ward as early as tomorrow.

Posing for a picture in his hospital bed for the MoS, he said he wanted to speak out 'to thank all the well-wishers from around the world who have been sending positive messages for my recovery, particularly the ones from Britain. I am very grateful.'

I suspected she would say she contacted her dad, but in fact wouldn't. It is just so like her. She must have forgotten that her father would know that she lied.

Part of a series of Tudorials. Thomas and Samantha both say Meghan has not been in touch with their father, both are saying they won't allow her near Tom, and Samantha calls her "b*tchface."

Does stupid run in the Markle family? By saying they won't let Meghan near their father, Tom jr. and Samantha are giving her an out for not calling. Now Meghan can be the victim because she's being kept from her father. Stupid.

Narcissism runs in the family. Each and every one of them has to be the one in control, the one that is always right. They live to score points off each other and catch each other in "gotcha" moments.

Without independent verification, or evidence from my own eyes and/or eyes, I don't believe anything that comes out of any of their mouths.

They all constantly do the same thing, over and over, and for some reason expect the result to be different, that their opposite number will suddenly jump up and say "OMG! You're so right and I'm so wrong!"

Their interaction is like C/C/D on steroids. I ran out of empathy for the bunch of them years ago.

Oh here we go. It was stated yesterday that Meghan did not contact her father, the hospital confirmed that they did not receive any phone call from Meghan through their switchboard. The gist was Meghan did not call despite her "spokesperson"'s statement.
It was done, but no, Samantha has to get in the picture and add her two cents and repeat what was established. She just had to get into the argument plus she was childish to add the name calling. If you want to call your sister a name, keep it private..don't air it to the world.
Now Meghan says she e-mailed her father and that will keep the family battle going for weeks. Tom Sr. is recovering and the family, at least Tom Jr. and Samantha should concentrate on that.

Watch the Tudorial on Meghan's email that I posted. The brown stuff is piling up, with more to come I'm sure. Like Susan said, the Markles start where the whole C/C/D thing ended.

Meghan has now changed her story--again. Now she "emailed her dad." But apparently she sent it to an email address he apparently hasn't used in five years. Listen to Tudor for all the problems with this claim and the purely ridiculous response Meghan's advisors gave. I'm going cross-eyed at this point over all the spin and fairy tales coming from Montecito.
