Royal Lunch At El Pardo Palace

"Royal Relatives joined the extended Spanish Royal Family for a Lunch at the Palace of El Pardo in Madrid on November 22nd, to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Restoration of the Spanish Monarchy upon the Accession of King Juan Carlos of Spain, which comes following Queen Sofia being awarded Order of the Golden Fleece."

Juan Carlos was present, which he certainly had the right to attend. I'm sure things may have been less than cozy, JC has written a new book and in it he had less than flattering things to say about Letizia. Supposedly he has written that he holds Letizia responsible for "dividing the family". Well JC, you, Cristina and Inaki did a pretty fair job at the division. Letizia did what she did to help save the Monarchy along with Felipe.

Getting caught with his mistress at an elephant hunt is what started the cascade leading to Juan Carlos' downfall. It started with Cristina and Inaki being caught embezzeling money from a charity, apparently with Juan Carlos knowing but doing nothing about it. I don't see where Letizia factors into any of this, unless it was to stand with her husband in not covering up their misdeeds.

Letizia was among the first to cotton on to what was going on, and removed herself and Felipe from it. IIRC, her engagement ring was connected to Inaki's criminal activities, which is why she stopped wearing it.

She was charged and acquitted of tax evasion. Hubby was the one who got sent away for corruption.

I was surprised that Cristina was acquitted, but she was the king's daughter so it didn't make me drop my wine. It looked like more like she was turning a blind eye than being actively involved in influence peddling, but she enabled Inaki's actions by not opposing them. In my opinion.

She wasn't involved in Noos at all. So guilty by association? Even the prosecutors in her tax evasion case finally allowed they didn't have enough evidence, but the judges wouldn't let the case drop.
