Ingrid, who is next in line to the throne after her father, Prince Haakon, added in the post: 'It's not about any case, not Marius, not mom or dad or Magnus.

'It's about personal attacks. It can apply to anyone. But it often applies to us. I chose to post it here. Because I'm going crazy. When is enough?'

She explained a thought experiment asking others to imagine a 'you' who had been accused of killing someone, despite being innocent, and the mental toll of dealing with the media storm and investigation surrounding the allegations.

Ingrid concluded her post, shared to her 800 followers, with the statement: ''It is important not to make allegations that you have no basis for'."
