Charles claimed the Foreign Office asked him to make the trip, but somebody from the Foreign Office claimed that when he asked for permission to go, they told him they had no objections. (This was back in our alt-gossip.royalty days.

I thought it was interesting that Harry appeared to be more concerned about receiving permission from his wife rather than how the British Government felt.
