Philip served on ships in the Indian Ocean from Jan 1940 to Oct 1940.

Between the end of Oct 1940 to mid-Sep 1944, he saw action in the Mediterranean (with a trip to Spitsbergen thrown in).

From mid-Sept 1944, he was in the Indian and Pacific Oceans (but no mention of Burma) and returned to the UK on Jan 17, 1946.

So, most of the war was spent in the Mediterranean, bookended by shorter periods in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
