(This is the weekly post where you share your week of food. Did you have anything that really made your week, such as your favorite soup, a lunch out, or maybe you had something new? Find a new food product? A new appliance? Please do share!)
We had a good, if slightly redundant week, with a lot of leftovers. I don't mean to sound lazy, but any day that I have leftovers is a more relaxing day that I can do other things.
I was glad to have some days off of cooking, in any case, though I did make a pudding to freeze into ice cream, and did cook some greens and celery for the freezer.
Instead, I went through totes, where I found that train case, etc. Also, I got some totes on sale. They were 30 gallon, and in dark blue were $14. a piece. However, a sort of mauve-y color that were the exact same, other than color, were $4. apiece. So, I got what they had, which weren't very many, and am packing things in them by type...clothes, things to sell or donate, things of ours to keep together, such as photos, strands of beads for making things, books, etc.
I guess that the color's not that attractive on these totes, so people didn't want them. They are very sturdy, though. Heck, I'd take purple and yellow polka dotted ones if the discount was good enough, lol!
But, I digress.
My thought was to bake today, food to freeze, but Ds came by to fix the water thing down at the old house, so that we can run the water again, as the water tanks are completely empty now.
That means that I can't even heat water for dishes. I did have some rain water set aside to wash my hair in, but donated it to dish water, but am out now.
So, no baking until there is water again. Plus, Dh is going down to spot for fires when Ds goes to the fields to set up the new generator *thingy. At this time of year, fire from a muffler is too likely to let anyone drive down there without a spotter.
*Make that cement block with a metal loop in it to lock the small generator to, so that when we use it to run the water pump for a day, someone can't just walk down there and walk off with it.
Now that I'm not baking, and I'm up here alone, I have to rethink what I'm doing for the rest of the day.
I think that I might start working on my next menu. I'm not ready to think about shopping lists yet, lol!
Also, there's still a few food items that I don't have a complete count on, to know how many I have, so that I can keep track of when to buy again. Maybe I will add them to my notebook.
We found the clips to our Jet Air oven, btw. If the last parts show up, I can make an angelfood cake. I definitely have enough eggs to!
How was your food week?
