DD is the one who makes things for everyone and if she can mails them to them. I send cards but now I send E cards but they don't even look at them. Oh well.
Today I will start with equipment. I learned something about the ChefStyle pan. I figured out how to tell what temp it is. Now it's possible you may already know this, but I just got it. LOL
I was baking a MC Apple pie. And it needed to be 450.. well I turned it on and almost kicked myself when the pie wasn't cooking at the 300 mark. DUH! It needed to be set at the middle mark of 400. I never got that 1 was 100, 2 200 etc. ROFLOL!
I have no clue why that never registered before.
The pie should have cooked in 70 minutes. It took me almost an hour at 3 to realize what was wrong. So I turned it to mid 4 and bingo the pie was done in 45 minutes. LOL BTQ the pie is great.
Then there is the Cruisnet hot plate. By does that heat up quickly. I love that there is no grill but a cast iron plate instead. Thing is I am not used to it yet and when I boil potatoes or pasta I forget to lay my wooden spoon across the top of the pan to keep the pot from boiling over.
I am hoping I remember now for I had the darn thing overflow three times now. I keep taking the spoon off after stirring the contents and don't put the spoon back across the top of the pan. another DUH moment.
I am thrilled that I thought of using S&P shakers as incense holders. Now I have to buy another box of matches for the bathroom. Getting tired of going back & forth between the kitchen cupboard and the bathroom for the matches.
My garden on the back porch just had a pot added to the steps. I had 6 new potatoes that were eyed out. So I dug around for a good sized pot, Added some large broken fossils, tossed handfuls of oak leaves from the ground on top of the rocks to keep the water from pouring out the bottom. Then I stirred up my compost and filled the pot just shy of the rim, put in 6 med to small new potatoes in the compost. Topped with more dead oak leave to keep the rain from running off the soil and stuck the pot on the back porch.
Plum I think I may leave these pots where they are. They get a good amount of sun up to about 1pm. If I put them out front I'm not sure if there is too much direct heat between 1 and 6 pm.
What do you think?
The avocado is growing really well. The tomatoes are doing better... the zucs best of all. I am already taking basil leaves from the plant and new leaves are opening up very quickly.
For not thinking I would have a garden this year... wow - I am certainly enjoy this one. 8-)
Ok the fridge freezer and freezer are both reorged every few days. Friday I hope to finally get my three b/o'ed pizza Supremes. I am eating better and I love the multi grain bread loaves. Not big just the right size for two meals. I may buy mre bread if the pizzas are still BO'ed.
I may also buy some more Angus Burgers. Those are really good. Thing is I want some hamburger to make my own stuff.
I don't know if I mentioned that Boy brought over the 6 12 packs of Sprite... thing is they weren't diet. So I have given some away. The rest I am having one once in a while. Plus more cranberry juice and apple juice.
I ewc;d all my new food and cleaning supplies and today I bought an indoor & outdoor carpet for the kitchen. I got it at Walmart with a great discount. The color is tan but it has a similar design to the burnt orange rug under the dining room table. It's 5 x 7 and I think it will barely fit. I almost bought a smaller one that was cranberry edging and a tan white and great overlapping weave. It was less but I didn't want to clash with the run I have.
It will arrive Friday. And Schwans will be here that day as well and I get most of the amazon stuff tomorrow. Boy should get the two more 5 gal jugs by end of week as well.
I have been eating better - used some of the italian meatballs I bought from "S" and a garlic tomato sauce. Added onions, tomatoes, garlic with herbs and spices. It last for three good sized meals.
I ate some of my waffles, and had the pink GF for 4 breakfasts. I also has some cheesy flour tortillas. Three Big salads with whatever I had. THe last of my avocado toasts. I made dip and have enjoyed doritos or chips with the lipton onion. Usually a lunch with some veggies.
Also another chicken potpie. And a Tuna salad. I used half for the cats and half for me Too much tuna in my salad. The local store sells an European loaf of pull apart bread. It has a bit f a sweet flavor. Tried it as grilled cheese... 8-(
with butter 8-), the sweetness is a bit much. So most likely wont buy again.
I got some of my cabbage soup thawed so will have it for lunch today. It needs potatoes... I have three pint bags of small russets roasted and frozen - I will thaw some, dice and add to the soup. I hope that builds it up some.
I ate some of the Ice Cream sandwiches on the hottest afternoons... tapping at 100 with high humidity. Oh yeah, some hotdogs in baked beans with onions in hot dogs rolls with cheese onions & fries and dill pickle spears.
Had another day or two of high BP... but am walking under 7 laps when it's humid or just plain hot. On a good day I do 11 laps including checking the mail.
Well that's it for the past week. I probably forgot some meals.. but I had lunch for breakfast a few times Leftovers for lunch and sometimes snacks for dinner... but I counted carbs - even so with the heat my BS can be high too.
Have a good week - take care. Me -
