Silva is intriguing I guess.
I'm really not sure how he'll contribute. yes, there's that 4/5 star pedigree, frankly that was 3+ years ago, IOTW it's basically meaningless now
it'll be interesting to see how he fits in. stats are sparse, granted ok it was in the Pac-12. video I've seen doesn't show much (to me). I see a slow tallish wing player to be honest.
Rebounding stats were really bad, half a board in 13 minutes for a 6'4" player. granted again sparse time, but boards usually indicate a players ability to 'get dirty' and 'mix it up'
shooting stats are ok, FT is poor (61%), just unproven. at 6'4" inch in D1 on a wing, you should be able to get out there and at least nail 3s, and guard guys.
assist to TO? there's nothing to see yet
basically would hope Silva is out there this summer in leagues and learning how to get dirty be a defender and expand his shooting range. We could use a guy to come in and shoot 40% 3s...so long as he is not a liability on defense. I don't see Silva as a key ball-handler, may be spot minutes doing so. I didn't see quickness.
sorry if this is a bit of a Debbie Downer assessment, I do think he's a good get albeit he's a project with a new lease on life at the Beach, but it's gonna require him adding muscle & showing lateral speed depending & being a bit reckless with his body, something that you can't see from his stint at Stanford.
hopefully he does all those things to earn time.
you can't teach 6'4" on the wing for guys that can reliably hit 3s and make smart quick passes...maybe that will happen, if so it'll be great
