My guess is empty returns possibly to Auburn, and or the thumb elevators. Scary thought here, but, since the coal has left HESR, and will probably not return before the CP power plants stop all coal altogether in couple of more years, I'm thinking that in time, LSRC could end up with all the Saginaw-Bay City-Midland-Thumb traffic. Keep in mind, the new G&W owners is Brookfield. They are a very cost minded company. They may want to sell the remaining business up there as there is no on line business between Durand and Saginaw. LSRC already has connections to CN at Flint, so the rail line thru Flushing could become redundant, if such a sale took place. Of course, we never want to see railroads disappear, but in today's business world, everything is for sale for a price...I lived in Flushing from 1969, thru 1984, and there was always been something fascinating about trains thru there. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but, as I said, here today, and gone tomorrow is something we need to think about in the real world today. (
Oh, this is just something to ponder, and NOT a rumor, just so I'm clear.
