So true, Ginger, and there was more than enough conflict coming from “without”. The writers should have left LnL a united front, always. I try to look at Laura telling Luke about Lucky in Texas as such a heartfelt and magnificent moment in her life that for that magical time, the Cassadine nightmare, even Nikolas, melted away for a bit. Of course, reality returned, but she truly meant everything she said to Luke.
She really is a lovely lady. The introduction of Nikolas might have been good for creating tension in the story, but it did make the Texas scenes a deception. Those scenes of LnL sharing the prospect of becoming parents were some of the best the two of them have ever done. If you were to believe the Nikolas story, then Laura's lie of omission of that pregnancy really degrades her. IMO, that was the beginning of the destruction of both of them. Laura lied about her having a child, and she had a love affair with Stefan. Luke had hookers and a son with Holly. The writing really ruined the purity of their love. I know that you need conflict on a soap, but that could have come from without...not within.
Great, thorough interview. Genie finally states, explicitly, the storylines and returns she had a hand in making happen.
She confirms that the creation of Nikolas Cassadine came from her, as well as the idea to resurrect Lesley.
She also talks about the Rick Webber destuction!
