There's always been something feminine, and even delicate, about Laura. I see it in the old school material I'm watching now.
But the current version of Laura really has been the prevailing Laura since 1993. Laura really is almost like a living angel. The messiest she's been since then was during the Nikolas storyline, where Guza really highlighted her flaws.
And Genie loved it.
I also really like Laura as she was during Luke's exit story in 2015. Terrible story, but Laura was the best thing about it. She looked great, she was KICKASS and she had fire, strength and purpose. I've always, always enjoyed seeing Laura's moments of strength. I think Genie is so underestimated in that category.
I really, really wanted that to be the version of Laura that we got for the long term. I love 90s Laura, her sweetness, her softness, but on this current GH that kind of character isn't really cherished the way it was in decades past.
Laura would've probably gotten more action and storyline honestly if Ron hadn't been fired. He messed up Laura in 2013, but in true Ron fashion, he knew how to correct his mistakes. And she was excellent when she returned in 2015.
But Jelly's Laura wasn't written like that, at least from the material I've seen so far. I know she had some battles with Valentin. But it sounds like those were verbal. The Laura I saw in 2015 might have shot Valentin dead for what she assumed he did to her son!
