The only thing I can think of is that she is too expensive for them at this juncture. I'm not saying that she isn't worth it, but loyalty in business doesn't exist any more. You can work for a company for 35 years and be let go in a flash. In Genie's situation, it just might be that she has to adjust to the reality that soaps might not want to make their big investment in talent to the budget in a middle-aged woman who was their big star back in the 80's and 90's. The truth is that the show has moved in another direction...away from family stories. The newer audience does not remember LnL or who she was when she was an ingenue. The kinds of scenes they shoot are not filled with emotional content. They are short, little plot-driven bursts. That is not the kind of work that she does best. So, probably someone on high looked at this and made the decision that they would like her from time to time but not enough to put her under contract with supporting characters and her own storyline. They view her as another Jackie Zeman or Leslie Charleson.

: She scheduled her college classes around L&L
: so how could she do this to Genie? I mean, I
: know business comes first, but wouldn't she
: have been the one to fight for Genie? I'm so
: confused and heartbroken. (I wonder if her
: last name has given her a lifetime of
: ridicule. I would have changed it to Drummer
: or something completely different.)
