It seems this page had so many comments during T-Dome week in the past. I remember 10 years ago it seemed like there were so many comments that it seemed to freeze up. This last week there were hardly any. Maybe this is a relief to Dave, because it has gotta be a headache to police the page.

Yes, the site is winding down, but I may leave the message board up for a while. I recently approved some new posts and will begin reviewing others for publication. Going forward, I will likely only check in once a day and see how that approach works. I may eventually reopen it for immediate posting, but frankly, I grew tired of babysitting complaints from both sides of various issues. Things came to a head before state, and I decided to shut it down. I simply don’t need the kind of drama some people bring to the board.
A bit of excitement and light trash talk is fine, but some users go too far, while others become overly sensitive when comments are made about their child or situations like school changes. Somehow, it often circles back to blaming me for what others post, and I’m no longer interested in dealing with that. We’ll just have to see how things go from here.
Results are now handled entirely by Trackwrestling, so I no longer post them. Rankings are being managed by the WWN; last year I incorporated theirs into many of my pages, and this year I will likely rely on them exclusively—if rankings are posted at all.
My biggest concern at this point is whether I should keep the site running. There are ongoing technical demands and maintenance requirements, along with costs for both the message board and the website that now exceed any income. It’s difficult to think about losing 30 years of data, but maintaining a website in an era of constantly changing technology and formats has become more than I want to take on at this stage of my life. It was a passion for three decades, but my interests have shifted.
If someone has the technical ability and interest in maintaining the site and preserving the data, please feel free to contact me. Over the past two years, I’ve spoken with a couple of groups who expressed interest in taking over, but nothing materialized. This will be a transition year as I decide whether the site continues at all. I may ask for donations to help cover costs, although it may ultimately be simpler for me to close everything down.
We’ll see what level of interest remains within the wrestling community. If there is still a need, we can explore ways to maintain it. If not, the site may join the long list of wrestling websites that once existed but are now gone. If that happens, it will still have outlasted the vast majority of wrestling websites nationwide over the past 30 years. Most sites that launched between 1996 and 2015 have already disappeared. A few remain, but like any venture, websites have their time before interest shifts elsewhere—and I’m at peace with that.
I provided a service—results, rankings, and a forum—when it was needed. If that need no longer exists, then the site will likely fade away.
As General Douglas MacArthur famously said, “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.” I believe this site will hold a special place in the memories of thousands of users who enjoyed it over the years.

This site was a valuable commodity for many years. I have many fond memories of discussions and interaction here. I'm glad to have been a small part of it. ❤️

Your contribution with the photography from 2005 through around 2013 was incalculable. That was a great addition to this site and the wrestling community loved your pictures. Your time in wrestling as a photographer wasn't real long but you burned white hot during that time and left a legacy that people won't forget.
I bought a digital camera around 2000 or so and started taking lots of pictures and posted on the WWR. I started to tire of trying to do that and coach, officiate, do rankings, post results, etc. so when you came along with even better photos it was a prime time for me to exit that task. I always appreciated you showing up just at the right time to allow my exit strategy from photography.

People may forget, but my back reminds me daily!
Thanks for your years of work and service!

I haven't been on the site much in the past decade or more since I moved from Washington South Oregon, but when I lived in Washington I frequented this site I always loved the info discussion tips and banter that could be down here. Most message boards are going the way of the dodo. That being said it's always so sad to see another message board that I used to frequent solely fade away. Thanks again for your years of service and not keeping the site hopefully it finds a way to stay alive I still check back here on occasion for my Washington information.

Dave Thank-you for all the time and effort you put into the wrestling community. This web page was a great source of info more valuable than most will ever realize. Some go above and beyond for the love of the sport. You did that for all of us. Thank-you again Dave.

Thanks for all you have done for this site. I remember being in high school early 2010s and this was something I looked forward to every wrestling season! Being ranked and following the forum was awesome!
