The title All American is a big deal. Stop calling your 8yo an all American because they placed at a RMN or WOW tournament. They’re good, we get it, but you are watering down the title of AA. Also…a little side note, most of the tough kids are participating In Freestyle and Greco season, only newbs are still hitting stand ups RN. J/S

My newborn just pinned every other kid in the maternity ward. AA of the hospital. Just waiting for my kid to choose a gender so I can enter him or her in the appropriate tournament.

Does it matter? You been an AA? no not alcohol anonymous. Parents can say whatever they want. Results are results etc. They are kids relax and go hit an AA meeting for your jealousy.

I don’t think All American status should start til 9th grade. If you place at Reno you are all American? What place and what ages? Because some of those kids have round robin brackets. Lol Reno worlds is NOT the tournament it used to be. How do we find out what tournaments qualify as All American status? Does regional qualifiers or just placing at Fargo? So many questions.

I remember a Coach about 15 years ago saying there were way too many tournaments with the, “Nationals” tagged. And way too many people referring to their kids as All Americans. After a while I started realizing it was true. Kids belonging to School Boy teams call themselves AA. Its out of hand. Heck even adults belonging to club wrestling now claim AA.

Agreed We have been to Reno worlds for 10 years running. It is a fun tournament, but it certainly isn’t the tournament of the past. It’s a good regional tournament, but certainly not a national championship. This goes for some of the USA wrestling national tournaments as well. Washington kids go to preseason nationals and win matches or even place, but the ranked guys aren’t there, because they go to super 32 a week prior, yet these tournaments claim national championships. Same with rmn. Even the nhsa nationals is by grade, so that isn’t a hs national title either. Tough tournament yes. You will find the ranked high school kids at super 32 in NC, usaw Folkstyle Nationals in Iowa, and Fargo ND. Of course there’s a few more than this, but you get the point. I am not talking shit, I love our wrestlers traveling out of state for competition, but it’s very easy to know where the ranked dudes are and aren’t. Just an observation and opinion about having 20 so called national championships. good luck to our boys in Fargo this year, let’s bring home some real AA hardware

We went for several years running and it was a great tournament but I haven't been in a couple of decades. You said it is not the tournament it used to be. Can you expound on that? Are the numbers down, the quality down, just what do you see that has changed for the worse. It used to be the Big One.

Just go throughout the 15 and 18u brackets this year. That would be a good indicator and start. It’s pretty easy to see this is far far from a national championship. Not even the ranked Cali guys show up anymore let alone ranked guys across the us. Good tournament yes, national championships definitely not. This tournament isn’t even remotely close to the tournaments I mentioned above. I would argue Reno isn’t as tough as the other WOW tournaments such as Tulsa nationals which shouldn’t be considered a national championship either.

As far as I am concerned you are not an AA unless you place top eight at Fargo, whether Free or Greco!

Junior 190 had 15 kids
