I was one of those kids who in 1977 3A state tournament, lost my first match after being tied in regulation, in overtime, and it was left up to the ref to decide. Fortunately I got over the disappointment to come back and be a medalist. Overcoming adversity was a life lesson I still share with our wrestlers.
