If you haven't been to the site that Steve Davis maintains, you should. He has a wealth of history there and I just got done cruising the brackets from back in my day. Always fun to see the names your forgot about, or realize how stacked certain weights were in hindsight. One thing that was interesting to see, and also forgotten by me, was seeing that if you lost in the first round at state, the guy who beat you had to win, or you were one and out. That was the norm for tournaments back then and double elimination was not for everyone in the bracket. Twentyfive % of the bracket were one and done.

The other thing I saw in a bracket that I had forgotten about was the "judges decision" and I saw two of them in one bracket. Back then I think they had one OT round and if still tied then the referee had to decide who wrestled best and won. Crazy huh? I till remember having to do that as an official once about 25 or so years ago at a large WSWA kids tournament at Everett HS. I did NOT like being put in that position, especially since I knew the families on both sides. I like the current OT rules MUCH better.
