Seat Leon 2007 - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture: 2007
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 1900 BXE

Both side repeaters not working. M.O.T. Failure
bulbs good, holders good, TECH checked no power or earth, AD diagram shows separate earths to chassis either side of car. Wires broken both sides ?, bit of a coincidence. Before going too deep is there known issue of this ? hope to sort today, only m.o.t. tester i have left is on holiday as of tonight for week and half.

These use a no load no power circuit. What happens if you supply an additional earth to each lamp?

Rodents have managed to get behind fire wall and build a nest under the scuttle panel, large bits of paper, do'nt know where they got in. They chewed through both side repeater looms just inside inner wings, they left PCM Harness and alarm siren harness (right next to o/s side repeater) alone.

VW wiring very popular with rodents. Recently looked at a Golf where the wiring to the airbag sensor in the door pillar chewed ,along with the rear seat belts !

Hi Andyhyoung.

I have not heard of " No load no power circuits" can you elaborate or tell me where I can read up on this.

Most modern cars that have electronically switched lighting systems use a process of cutting power to the consumer if there is no load on that circuit. As an example, recently fixed the rear lights on a Peugeot with corroded pins to the bulb holder. Put a test light on the circuit and no power to it,as there was no load. Key off , wait a few seconds ,and power is restored with wiring fixed. Not sure where you can read up on this.

Just to add to what Andy has explained, I've come across several vehicles with failed tail lights that had no power to them until the fault codes for that failure were cleared.

Very common as the system is monitored by the control unit.

Ford rangers will not power a headlight after a bulb failure until the DTC is cleared.
