Opel / Vauxhal Vivaro 2.5 CDTi 2006 - Airbag fault - Fixed #

( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 2500 cc

Hi All

I have the above vehicle in with an airbag fault.I scanned it with snapon solus and got code "4 Front Airbag Circuit, Passenger open Circuit". This van doesn't have a passenger airbags so I checked and cleaned the pre tensioner connections under the seat but the code comes back straight away.Can anyone tell me if this code could relate to another area in the system, ie "left hand/right hand" drive model. This one is right hand drive btw.

Just in case there is any left/right confusion,what code is set if you disconnect driver airbag?

we had a 2011 jag XF in last week , that had fault codes for drivers air bag stage 1 and 2 , scaned with WOW and snap on Modus ultra, turned out to be both bonnet air bags ,

generic Scan tools lie lots with air bag stuff from my experience

try finding some one with a Teck 2 or Vaux com and see what you get.

Hi Andrew,like you suggested I had disconnected the drivers airbag just to check but had got a different code.Andy I think your right I need to get a model related scan tool and try to get more specific information,generic scan tools have sent me on a wild goose chase before. Thanks for your input guys I'll let you know how I get on.

Have you had a look behind the dash on the passenger side. Sometimes vehicles have the wiring for the airbag even if there is no airbag and a dummy instead of the airbag. And you could have a bad connection or wiring fault on that.

Edit- Just another thought I'm sure on some Renault vans you need to configure the airbag ecu with which airbags are fitted to the vehicle. Something to check if you get it on a dealer tool. Maybe it's been messed with before you got it.

Or possibly had a 2nd hand module that was configured differently?

I agree dealer tool is best way forward but just a couple of thoughts

Any live data available ? are code accurate when you disconnect pretensioners and drive air bag?

Auto data seems to list passenger air bag in locations & wiring diagram, so could be an option issue if definitely not fitted.

could not see SRS fault code on AD under vauxhall but are shown under traffic B0004 given as driver knee air bag cant see that it will have that if basic system.

I have had these where the config has changed / gone corrupt when batteries have been changed / gone flat or jump started..

Maybe worth asking the relevent questions to gain abit of history on this, but agree dealer tooling is the way forward on this with accurate code descriptions.

What is the actual code?

Can you scan it as a renault variant and see if the description / code differs?

Many thanks for your input guys very helpful. I tried delphi on it and it turns out that, what snapon calls the passeger side airbag, is actually the drivers side seatbelt pretensioner. I cleaned the connection and Bobs your uncle. And the snapon dealer is trying to get me to up grade my scanner !!!
