Jaguar S type 2.7 2006 - No start No auto transmission coms #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 2.7

No start no crank situation? Gearbox fault in instrumentation!
Gearbox lever will not disengage from park!
No communincation to TCM on scan tool!
Can bypass the starter on the relay with ignition on & get the vehicle to start.
Cannot move hence stuck in park due to no comms with TCM.
NO FUSES BLOWN!
YES! Have checked the inertia cut off switch which has not tripped.

Any ideas guys

Hello Peter,
Most likely the J gate selector

Now its been a long time since I did one of these but you can over ride the lever by prizing it out of the consul and push the inhibitor switch to move it out of park and try to start it in neutral.
You can then drive the car.
But as I said its been a long time

Would a faulty J gate selector cause a no comms with gearbox ecm???

Hi Peter.

Did you get a wiring diagram?

The can wire's go via the j gate, but i would expect comms problems with other modules on the wrong side of the j gate.

Have you checked for live's and earth's?
