Citroen Berlingo 2003 - Water damaged BSI issue #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003

Hi all

I have a water damaged BSI currently at BBA for repair , they can repair it but say it has to be virginised ? Before it can be used again !
If that's the case can I get it re programmed myself using my DEC 2 ? And will I need a code or other data to do this ?

NO you cant virginise it with Dec

Ive never had much joy with refurb/repaired Bsi,one problem seems to be fixed to create a few more.
It will cost approx £80 plus Vat plus 2x carriage to get it virginised plus BBA bill.

Have you priced up new???

Are you sure its your Bsi thats coming back???
Are they definitely repairing it not just replaced with known good core?

Hi,
Your Dec will have a PDF file on how to do this. Call Scott at maverick and he will show you how to get it.

Bba say there is track damage and they need to virginise it ?
Â£120 , just not sure to give them go ahead recive a virgin unit and not be able to finish the job meaning trip to dealer plus extra cost !
It's just a farmers runabout so can't let cost get out of hand .
Who knows mark what I'm getting back to be honest ?

Jeff,
Dec can definitely do these as I have done a few myself.
In dec select the right bsi in available modules and it will give you a list of special functions and PDFs on how to use them.

Hi

Dec superscan will programme these in but only from a virgin state.
It will not reset a second hand unit

Jeff,

You will need the key security code to program it. I would think a good locksmith should be able to help you with that but maybe best to make sure you can get it before investing any more in the job.
You could ask BBA if they can read the security code out of the old BSI. It is likely they should be able to.

It would be interesting to know why a track repair should cause it to need to be virginised.

Would it not be cheaper to buy a complete BSI ECU kit second hand? This way the only programming required would be changing the vin in the Radio and maybe change a few parameters in the BSI which I would expect the DEC should do.
