Smart Fortwo 999cc 2010 W451 - Fitting new alternator and bearing liner - Fixed #
Posted by Mike Burgess on June 19, 2014, 7:58 pm Hi I have a smart fortwo in with an Alternator/starter gone. I have removed the Alt unit and got a genuine new unit and tensioner assembly, from Mercedes. They also supplied a bearing liner kit ( new fixing bolt for alternator). I have tried to ring Mercedes on how this is suppose to fit but they will not give me any information. From what I can see, two of the sleeves would go in the water pump / casting but it would mean that you have to drill out the casting to make the sleeves fit. Has any one done one of these before. The new unit supplied is the updated unit for this vehicle.
