Audi A4 1.9TDI 1999 - Intermittant beep from OSR wing cavity #

Intermittent quiet beeping noise from OSR of car when parked up.

I have not witnessed this since, of course, it wouldn't play for me!

The AA man seemed to think it might be related to a poor tailgate latch (It only latches properly if shut "Firmly" ) but I think this is more likely to be a red herring since even when not shut properly I was unable to make the fault occur.

Is the alarm horn located in the OSR wing cavity? Does it have internal rechargeable batteries that fail? Any other thoughts?

If this is an estate model,then I would say it is most likely to be the alarm siren.Not sure if the saloon has the same location,but have found that most Audi models have the alarm siren at the rear of car.

That is pretty much my guess at this stage, Do the alarms have independent/replaceable batteries?

Also (My Bad) I omitted to mention that I did actually have a fault code for "Loss of comms to siren" (Cant remember code no, left info in Van)

Would bad internal batteries (If present) generate such a fault/code?

If a saloon the alarm horn is accessed from inside, I have had one chirping away, it is either O/S of boot or O/S inner rear wing, my customer just anted it disconnected.
