ECU testing #
Posted by Matt Seabrook on April 5, 2013, 1:30 pm Hi all. I was just wondering who other garages used? We have been using a firm to repair dash units and ecus for some time now and on the whole they have been ok. But we have been having a few problems with a dash we sent in for repair. The dash went away had problems with the LCD. When it came back it seemed to be fixed but the fuel and temperature started doing strange things. The fuel gauge would just stop working and the temp gauge is not giving accurate readings. When looking at live date we can see the dash unit is getting good information. The dash unit went back to the repairer for testing but came back no fault found. So we checked the lives and earths again to the dash unit and also VAN data for any signal problems all looked good. Phone the repairer again and they still could not help and said we had already covered all the test we should have. So out of desperation we purchased a second hand unit and fitted that to check the fuel/temp gauges. Low and behold all was well. We have contacted the repairer and they have offered us a refund but we are now no further forward with the repair for the customer as the second had unit has 70,000 mile more on it and also a TC illumination for which the car does not have TC.
