Skoda Fabia 1.2 BMD 2008 - Central door locking fault - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2008
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 1.2L BMD

Problems with central locking.
The key fob only unlocks driver's door on the first press of the fob, but will not unlock all the other doors on the second press of the fob.
All doors start clicking when locked or unlocked with key fob, it clicks about 20 times and then the alarm goes of.
All door's are clicking when door's are locked and unlocked with the switch on the centre console.
The batteries have been changed in both the key fobs.
There are no fault codes.
Will it need reprogaming?
But the car starts and runs ok.
If anyone has any ideas.

I had a golf that did something similar once before, i just disconnected the battery for 10 minutes and it was perfect after that.

Hi Nick, does it lock ok with key in lock?
What is clicking, door locks or relay? I agree with battery reset as a starter.

The car locks with the key, but you still got the clicking it is like the locks are trying to engage but the car has already lock itself.
When you unlock it with the key in the lock it only unlocks the drivers door and the alarm goes off.
We don't know if it is the door locks or the relay because we have not had the door trim off yet.

Lock / unlock status of all the doors as a starting point.

Is there a problem with some chassis numbers?

Just allows me to check out a few things for you.

Have you checked lock switch in door? Di interior lights react t o door opening? Is there a display on dash to tell you if all switches are reacting?
Is it a hatchback? Are there any damp patches in boot area?

Hi Gerald,

This is a problem with the convenience module, if the customer is ok with one press of the button unlocking all doors and tailgate you can reprogram the module to enable global unlocking (not sure what else does this apart from AL & Vag Com) if they require drivers door only option it will require a new convenience module.

Hi Rob, Im sure you can program for single lock and all lock using vwg capable machines. Newer vehicles allow it through the MMI system.

look into the live data & see what the door latch, barrel switches positions etc are reporting.

Is there a lock barrel in the passenger side? If so what happens when you lock / unlock with this barrel.

The data is a good place to start if you can access it, before stripping doors etc......

Hi Gerald, speaking to relevant people today, there were software issues with the door control modules. You could disconnect one at a time and see if the chattering stops.

Removed battery for 10 mins, all works ok now.
