Toyota Corolla 1.4 D4D 2007 - Electric steering fault, code C1554 - Fixed #

( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 1.4 D4D LaunchX431

Hi Lads

This car came into us today power-steering just stopped working,2 faults listed C1554 power supply relay failure, U0100 lost communication with ecm/pcm tried to clear faults but C1554 won't clear.

Checked Fuses main power supply positive and negative OK inquired in main dealer the say most likely to be steering ecu at cost of €690 has anyone seen this problem before?

I,v had similar with a Honda and all my after-market scanner,s would not clear the code after a fuse was removed but genuine honda scanner did, may be worth a try with tech-stream.

Hi Kevin

I disconnected battery for 10 minutes,reconnected worked perfect.The main relay is built into the EMPS ecu and when you have to re-calibrate the control unit, its fixed for the moment

Had same fault with 2 or 3 auris models.Each time when we disconnect battery for a while power steering come s back as normal.It may not reset 1st time so try it a number of times .Had none of them back since?
