Hi
Customer reports that somedays the light out symbol for rear ns and warning chime are active on visually checking lights himself they can either be unlit or dim,it can effect tail, stop, flasher etc.every time he books in all fine. he commented thought it worse when raining but not sure due to intermittent nature of fault, sounds to me like a poor earth fault as anyone come across this and if an earth, point me in direction of location point. Hi Geoff. I Think we had an A6 with that problem, It was a bad earth where the multiplug clips onto the rear bulbholder, Ours was also intermittent and we missed the burnt pin on the first visit as it was working fine at the time.
I Also think that when the system sees a bulb failure or a poor connection, It shuts the power off to that light and doesn't work again until the lights have been turned on and off a few times.
We did the usual fix of soldering an earth wire to the circuit board earth connection and snipping the earth wire out of the plug and joining with a bullet connector.
If you wanted to be professional, I suppose you could replace the bulbholder and replace the pin in the plug but I know which will last the longest.
p,s you have to look close as the burnt connection may not look bad, but doesn't have to be really bad to cause chaos on this modern stuff.
