VW Passat C3 2006 - Electronic steering column lock #

hi out ther have above vehcile in & fault codes
02811
02818
02681 ibelieve it requires new column lock , now available seperately from complete colum
couple of questions,how long to chang item?
other than skc code will i need any other data to install? your advice would be helpfull , keith.

Done one a while back and you can lower the column down and tilt it, there are two shear bolts holding it on, bit fiddly, couple hours job.
What are the fault code descriptions, mine said steering lock faulty and module fault so needed convenience unit too, and programming.

You will need Autologic for this job, think you will struggle with vcds, even if you could get pin.

descriptions are
02681 electronic steering column lock sensor check sum error / implausible signal-intermittent
02818 steering column lock enabling for electronic ignition lock / open or short to ground-intermittent
02811 control module for electronic steering column lock [j764] - defective intermittent
looking through proceedures in ross tech it looked straight forward, just need skc key ! your thoughts keith.

Looks like it needs convenience unit too, my advice is do both. Not sure how you will get pin though.

Hi
I also have a 2007 passat c3 in at the mo. Intermitent non start. In the immo it has all 3 same faults relating to the electronic steering lock but also i have in the engine 005488 engine start blocked by immobiliser. Reading the previous posts and some others it looks as though it requires both convience module and the steering lock. Any advice would be most appreciated. TIA
