Hi

This vehicle is the model as well as having the normal PRND positions is able to be used in a manual or sport mode by moving the selector lever across the gate, for manual changes move lever forward for upward changes and rearwards for down changes.
this it does not do and also in the normal CVT position wont operate as expected on acceleration it just revs up with very little increase in road speed and then when coming to halt revs usually remain as high as 3000rpm,these can only be brought down by moving into M then back into D then the next attempted drive away the same thing again.
there may be one piece of information that i think is relavant when shifting through the gate the R and D selector digits on the displays on the led module adgacent to lever and the one in the instrument pack dont show.
i think it unlikely to be the PRND M/S SWITCH because these are usually made to high standards,i suspect it may be the gearbox interface unit (GIU) or communication between this and the MEMS3 ECM which is used for many of auto commands or both.
has anyone had similar experience with these nb we have the T4 tool if any particular screen info would help as there is loads of data.

Any DTC's Geoff?

Just for a quick heads up.The GIU is located in front of the gear lever directly under the heater matrix, guess what sometimes happens, drip drip drip....HTH.

hello buggerlugs
no sign of water ingress DTCS had been erased previously.

Any resent work carried out on the vehicle?

Does the speedo work?

morning mark
this vehicle had been purchased at auction so dont know about any previous work. but speedo works.

You could try reprogramming the ECU and then carrying out the learn adaption (flashing "F" in the display)

have done this no change, been studying up the way the system functions going to have to start checking looms and component values where available.
probably it was in auction because of this fault, owner may decide to reenter and cut his losses.as will probably need many hours diagnosis without donor vehicle for comparisons.

I have one of the above vehicles as a courtesy car, so if you need any data just ask.

Have you tried another Mems 3 Unit ?

Regards Mark

FIXED?
MARK thanks for your offer but made a possible breakthrough yesterday i had a rov 45 with stepspeed available for comparisons.
using T4 one of the sub system tests was for checking function of the park/neutral switch, this constantly failed the test on the 25 but when carried out on the 45 it passed every time, then the strangest thing happened i began to check again the inhibitor function to see if the starter would only crank in P and N this was confirmed but with gear lever in the R position and ign key turned to crank position no crank but i noticed the R symbol in the instrument pack was being displayed,i cant explain why this was so anyway i shifted through all gate positions and all symbols were displaying this wasnt occuring as previous posts will testify to.
any way took car on r test and every function working in full auto mode ,sports mode and up and down manual shifts.
since then i have studied circuit diagrams but as this is very complex going through many components it is impossible to come to any certain conclusion so whil have to monitor over next few days, at least i can rule out any mechanical fault in CVT transmission.
