Audi A4 1.9 TDi 2002 - Code 01331 door control module no comms - Fixed #

Hi guy's,

Got this Audi with window winder problems,checked the archives and most are pointing towards a faulty convenience module fault. Had a look no signs of water ingress and connections all clean. DTC 01331 logged adrress 09 (Door control module; drivers side "no communications")
Also address 16 and 17 no comms to other door control modules. Checked Drivers door module and both CAN high and low are present, I'm thinking the drivers door module is faulty, any advice to point me in the right direction greatly appreciated.

You say you have checked connections, does that include the A pannel one under the rubber. Actually take it appart & check it, can cause issues.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the response, just to get my terminology correct, do you mean the kick panel? I've checked the multi-plug connectors on both sides of the vehicle (pulled them apart) but can find no connection "under the rubber" or anything resembling a rubber. I've also found that there is no communication to the CAN gateway so the plot thickens

Sorry its my terminology thats wrong.
I meant A post (so yes kick pannel) should be a connector there abouts for door loom.
For the rubber its reference to the one between the door & the A post.
Does the central locking or the elec windows work ? Sureley these also run throug can bus ?

check wiring under rubber boot between door and body
common problem wires break sometimes not obvious untill you bend them and they fall apart

Thanks Guy's,

There was a break in a few of the wires in the OSF door jam. We made good the breaks and comms were restored to the module, windows now work on all four doors, but the central locking when activated through code reader only works on drivers door, customer needed vehicle for work and will be returning it in a week. Interestingly I learned a valuable lesson here, CAN (or more correctly LIN) signals were present at door module, that led me incorrectly to conclude wiring was OK, I should have checked for LIN signals with module disconnected and would have found they had disappeared, door module produces it's own LIN comms and so mislead me in my diagnosis.

Living and still learning at age 55!

Have u checked live an earths to the module had a passat a while ago that had lost power supply to module
