Got this Mercedes in to change auto gearbox oil & filter didn’t think that we would have a problem as we service many Mercedes & we have the dummy Mercedes dip sticks to check the oil level, Simple I thought but oh no !!! It has got a drain plug in the sump but it’s very small (unlike like some V.A.G vehicles that you fill up the centre of drain hole) or am I wrong cuz i daren’t remove the drain plug yet!! It hasn’t got a dip stick tube either so can’t be filled from there. It hasn’t got a filler/level plug I have spoken to main dealer they were not much help they just said that they use a special pump to fill it and that I would struggle to do it. (Thanks for nothing mate). I also have spoken to my transmission specialists and they say they haven’t come across this one either. Put it this way Kev, it has got tiptronic with the paddles on the back of the steering wheel,the dash shows one to six,so I would assume it is six speed in auto but I may be wrong.
Hi, the new auto boxes now require new adaptors and pumps to fill them. We have invested in the Laser pump which comes with a universal adaptor kit but the new VAG & Mercedes require a 3 Pc adaptors to fill the gearboxes. I have put the links below.
This should be a 722.9xx 7 speed tiptronic....In manual (paddle shift) override on the dash the gear range should be 1-6 AND "D", (D is the 7th gear).
To drain it you have to remove the pan. To fill it you have to make up an adapter tube that fits the small plug on the sump and pump the fluid in, level checking is then done same as Audi using the overflow tube.
