Mercedes Benz E211 2.7 CDi 2003 - Alternator removal - Fixed #

( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: E270 Cdi

Can anyone tell me if you have to remove Radiator Top Panel and Fan to remove Alternator?

No room for it to come out from underneath.

Does it need a complete alternator? The regulator can be changed in situ with the boost pipe removed. Changed a few on low mileage 211 CDIs for corrosion in the reg terminals. All of the 211 models I have worked on have got a battery control module to control the alternator so don't forget to check it's operating correctly. Otherwise it's as Andrew said to swap out a whole unit.

Alternator removed. Replaced regulator and bearings, job now sorted.
