Hyundai Accent 1.3 12v 1999 - Clutch slip, possible flywheel? - Fixed #

( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 1300 cc 12 vlave

hi. i have got in a v reg hyundai accent 1.3 12 valve petrol.
it came in with clutch slip under load. i stripped and rebuilt with cheap national clutch which was of a slightly different design to original, also replaced external slave cylinder due to fluid behind boot. i roadtested and within a couple of miles it began to slip again, i then replaced clutch kit again with a decent valeo kit and again it slips under load. i have tried the old cylinder to make sure it wasn't that and again still slipping. i can only put it down to the flywheel being worn??

any suggestion or even a flywheel thickness measurement would be greatly appreciated.

can you push slave cylinder back by hand.

recall doing A master cylinder on one for this problem.

Hi Matt,

The flywheel would have to be very worn to reduce the clamping effect of the pressure plate.

I think more probable is a "Free play" issue or a hydraulic pressure fault. HTH

Hi

I to would be thinking of Hydraulic pressure build up, possibly due to badly adjusted or faulty M/C cylinder.

Check there is a clearance on the m/c push rod. As said check you can push the slave in by hand.

Is the slave cylinder feed line a flexi hose or steel line ? if flexi hose a have seen them when the internal bore colapses as the rubber gets old and can cause the slave cyl. to keep pressure on the lever.

cheers guys,
4 people pointing at hydraulic side of things does sound promising.
there is new slave fitted, with 2 metal hyd. pipes and 6 inch flex in the middle. the slave wont go back by hand so i removed pipe end into master cylinder and slave returns easily. no fluid is dripping from master cylinder with the pipe not fitted which surely isn't right - therefore am i safe to say and agree that master is either faulty or adjusted incorrectly???

thank you all for your advise, i think if i have to take this bloody gearbox out again i'll go mad!!!!

I have just fitted a second hand master, removed main fluid pipe and reservoir drained, unlike old one, fitted and roadtested and touch wood all is ok.
