I think these are the same as a lot of Peugeot cars, in that there is an electronic speed controller built into the motor housing. Check all connections to this and the motor as they melt! The switch on the dash is only a variable resistor that doesn't fail very often. Don't forget that the fan will only work when the engine is running!
