    Hi Howard
Am i any further on. Hmm here goes
Our vehicle constantly sets P0170 lean exh. At idle with lambdas stuck at 32mv the O2 reading is 0.7 at 3000 rpm lambda stuck at 19mv the O2 reading is 3.6.
I cannot find any form of air leak at all.
    I have 22hg vaccume.
    Have blocked off EGR valve
Blocked off air hose to evap can.
scoped out lambdas heaters are good, earths are good, supply is good, signal will switch for first 5 minutes then works its way down and sticks lean at 32mv.
I have replaced the lambda pre cat.
continuity tested and resistance tested lambda wires back to ecm.
Worked my way through several pages of the fault isolation procedure from the TIS discs several times.
All tests pass until i come to the last test procedure in the TIS disc this is fuel pressure.
The TIS disc states that fuel pressure for the Z22XE engine should be 3.8 bar unregulated. they test with a manometer. Vauxhall technical who i have spoke with several times over the last week are adamant that the fuel pressure should be 3.8 Bar.
My fuel pressure on this b###h is 3 bar unregulated and 2.4 bar regulated engine runing (tested with two different fuel pressure gauges).

I have removed fuel pump fron inside fuel tank inspected all hoses in there, inspected gauze filter its perfect. I gave the pump it's own supply even though i had 13v and a good earth to the pump.
I have replaced the fuel pressure regulater with new. (still 3 bar)
Under vaux technicals recommendation i have now replaced the fuel pump with new (still 3 bar)
I have removed the whole fuel rail inspected and cleaned out.
I have replaced the complete fuel pipe from the fuel pump outlet inside the fuel tank upto the fuel rail (still 3 bar)
If i restrict the fuel return i can get the fuel pump to go over 100 psi. if i restrict the return pipe so i get 3.8 bar the lambda begins to switch for about 5 mins but then works it's way lean again and sticks at 32mv.(personaly i think the fuel pressure is ok and vaux have their specs wrong)Could you please test yours and let me know the results?
Today i decided to try a new Air Mass meter (not that i could find anything wrong with the original) But this has now changed everything it cures my lean exh code the car runs fine for the first 10 minutes Lambdas switch perfect Co is 0.00, Co2 is 15.69,ppm is 0,vol O2 is 0.1 lambda is 1.005.
But after the 10 minutes are up the lambdas now start to go rich they then stick at 900mv and will not react and i get code P0170 Rich exhaust, Co is at 5.83.
Maybee i have a partially blocked cat?
will test in the morning too tired to think now
    ;-)
    Good luck
I can fax you over the TIS procedure if you need it
    Regards
    Dave
