Hi Mike, I had something similar on an E class. The description of the code was "BAS Reed Switch". Same symptoms as yours. A call to the dealer got me the info that the reed switch was in the servo unit. It could be identified as there were two wires going into the unit for it. The customer in question uses KTS and he could not comm with BAS either. While I did not actually finish the job, I was told later that my diagnosis was correct.
