Jaguar XJS 1988 3.6 - ABS light will not go out Archived Message

I'm having loads of problems with this one, I've worked my way through various faults but still can't got the ABS light to go out. It will for a couple of seconds when the engine is started but comes back on and stays on. I've found a diagnostic plug which I've been told that I should be able to get flash codes via the warning light by earthing brown/pink wire. All this does on my car is put the light out completely. I've done all the usual tests, including wheel speed sensors, modulator solonoid resistance checks etc, but so far no good. I'd imagine that it hasn't been working for some time as the main control relay was corroded away and someone had taken the ABS light bulb out. If anyone code tell me if it is possible to get codes from this and if so how, I would be most grateful.
