Peugeot 205 Auto Starting Problem, will not crank overArchived Message

Hi all recovered this today, wouldn't crank over.
When jump cable put from solenoid to batt + starter runs and will start engine. Check for volts at solenoid terminal 12v when in cranking position with gear lever in P or N but then put lead back on solenoid wont start but 12v still there. Could this be ignition switch or inhibitor switch not taking current. Any help please.
