The metal lumps are iron / steel (magnetic), relatively small in size and very thin wall, but the metal is very hard (almost appearing case hardened). They vary in size but have been compressed into a larger lump. Sorry I can't be more descriptive, but to look at they look very similar to part of an injector shield on a diesel engine.
